Abstract

We experienced one patient who presented with bone marrow necrosis and eventually
developed acute lymphocytic leukemia is reported and similar cases in the literature are
reviewd.
It is said that bone marrow necrosis, regarded as a rare finding in specimens from
living patients, has been associated with a poor prognosis in patients with serious
hematologic diseases and metastatic carcinoma. But only a few reports have been
submitted about bone marrow necrosis as a preceding factor of leukemia.
The pathogenesis and possible relationship are discussed. We conclude that bone
marrow necrosis may be another condition preceding acute lymphocytic leukemia.
